Started working since - Aug 2005
First H1B screwed up by employer in 2005, applied new one in 2006 April
Transfer of labor (dated Dec 2006) in April 2007
Labor approved before July -2007 fiasco but did not apply I-485 to get married and be with family.
Married and Wife came on F1 - Aug 2009
Sticking with the same employer since 2005.
Waiting for my priority date to be current and hoping coming July will bring cheers.

The impact to companies like Infy etc is ~5-10MM
If someone look at their last year Balance sheet, They spent appx 16MM on visas, now assuming H1 cost came to ~10MM (these companies do lot of business elsewhere )
that would translate to ~ 2500 filings (including extn, new etc)
this additional $2000 would result in additional $5MM cost if they decide to continue filing 2500
This would not be too huge to make a dent on these companies. yes they may increase their billing to client by $2-5
So who is ultimately paying it is the American companies who use offshoring companies.

I just sent a check of $100 via online bill payment to IV. I've also set up recurring contribution checks of $25 every month beginning June. I strongly believe in IV's cause and hope that many folks will come forward. This is the time to act to help ourselves, otherwise we'll be left behind. Keep up the good work.

There are many people who have contributed and will be contributing again. But can I know how would more money would have helped convincing Senator Sessions to say "Yes" for the bill??
I am not sure if more money would have passed the bill in Lame Duck session without Senator Session approving it. Also, the lawyers ask only for the service they render to you. They dont ask money for keeping your application with them and unable to process because of retrogression.
You may want to get in touch with core members if you have questions. They are very prompt in answering questions.Such posts will only create roadblocks to the momentum created on the forum by some of our members. It is time to help rather than ask. We have seen in the lameduck session how close we came to getting the bill passed. If IV was not there, even this much was not possible. Yeah that's the million dollar question, schedule A workers allready have 50K qouta, but that kicks off only after the regular EB3 numbers becomes unavailable, so they first use the regular EB3 number. Now they might have kept the status qou on that rule(first use regular EB-3 quota) and then instead of giving a fixed 50K quota they may use as many numbers after that. So basically what I'm saying is for non schedule A workers this amendment may not mean any thing.
It's a pessimistic view, but that's how immigration system have been in past 3-4 years.

It will be great if everyone who comes to IV contributes. That would be the ideal case scenario. But I think if there were specific donation drives like the one that is on going, then I believe a lot of people who believe in that cause would contribute and others who dont, wont!
Now, in this donor's only club that IV is proposing to have, what does the core have in mind. Is that going to be a forum where exclusive information is provided? What is the incentive for a "donor" to visit the general public forum? If the "donor"s dont visit the general forum arent you effectively killing off the general forum?
Like I had posted earlier, what stops a donor from making whatever is there in the donors only forum made available to everyone? Isnt this going to cause more divisions within IV?
Instead of forum for donors wouldnt it make more sense to have additional features made available to donors? Say, like having the ability to ask questions to a immigration lawyer or if any lawmaker is ready to answer quetions, the ability to post questions to them. I am all for donors getting a little bit of extra perks, but to have seperate forum... I am not sure if that is the best way for IV to go abt.

I am sure most of you have assets worth of at least $150,000. So if 300,000 are stuck in the backlog. This would mean if these guys leave this country, then that would be $45 trillion loss for USA.
Guys is there a way to get some media publicity of the possible loss of $45 trillion for USA due to US Immigration mess??

During our wait, I can say that we easily spend $10 - $20 k just for Immigration related issues....visa fees/lawyer fees/ etc...
I did a simple math, If I had the green card , during the last 8 years I could have made $25,000 more annually...that is $200,000 for eight years! This money just went to our H1 B employers, who are becoming wealthier!
