16th congressional district - volunteers needed
Calling for Nor Cal volunteers in the 16th congressional district.

We were given advice to meet with Hon. Zoe Lofgren the congresswoman for this district. As we as being an immigration attorney, she is Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law.
We need to visit her!

Hi there,
I have this question.
I have got the green card along with some of my family members except my older child who was 21 at the time of my I-140 application.
I filled out an I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN last December and it was approved last month.
I am a bit confused as on the approval notice it is said that in 90 days National Visa Center is going to send the beneficiary a set of instructions. Calling NVC myself I was told that they are not going to sent anything, it is supposed to wait for a visa number to become available and they are working now on visa cases from 2002!
Does anybody has an idea how this is working and how long it will take to get a "visa number" and a green card? Is the origin country (Romania) of any significance in terms of time?

I also received RFE. It was related to TB chest X-ray. In '07 doctor said, it is not requited but USCIS feels other way.

Hi All,
I am in EB3 with priority date of 2003 nov, I have a masters degree in US. Because of my negligence I applied in eb3. my i140 is cleared in eb3. waiting for priority date. Now I am planning to file eb2 perm and make us of the old priority date. Before joining for work I completed all the course work but didnt get the degree. I got the degree one year after I joined for work. My graduation date in the degree certificate is 5 months after my priority date. Will this raise red flags in the eb2 I-140 stage. Would it be safer for me to go for regular i-140 or premium processing. Any help or suggestion will be deeply appreciated.

Just saw this story from a few days ago. Aside from being a hugely irresponsible way to spend a broke state's taxpayer funds, this idea also is probably unconstitutional. Does Arizona plan on having its own border control points? Will the state's wall interfere with Border Patrol activities? The federal government is supposed to control the national borders and not the states. Not that Arizona minds wasting the state's money to continue to losing that point.

Here is my story
July 2nd - Wife and I applied for 485\EAD\AP
The lawyer sent a single check(I know !!! I know !!!)
Our applications got separated.
Mine came back on Aug 30th and my wifes last week
We have now refiled
This time it has gone for "special handling"-bypassing the mail room
I haven't got the receipt yet
Anyone who had a similar experience or went via special handling for some other reason...
How long does it take to get the receipt nowadays ?
(I couldn't see any receipt update on USCIS- I guess most of the people are past that stage)
Will special-handling speed up my Receipt OR EAD OR AP?

I faxed senator's office on sep 9th , then called this monday and they said I should get a response of inquiry in 30 days. No help from congressman's office. It has been more than a month after mailing the letter to them and folllowing up by phone calls. I have given up..

I am also in the same situation that my company's attorney is not giving me I140 receipt number. They just say that it was filed in first week May but don't have the receipt number yet.

My H1b 6 years time will expire on March 24th, 2011. One of my previous employer (eData experts) based out of PA had filed for my PERM labor in 12/12/1007.
But unfortunately due to their negligence it was denied and I was only told about only after 3 months. I currently work for another employer and they have not started my GC processing yet. I don't want to work for this new company because of lot of work pressure which is affecting my work life balance. Can someone out there please suggest me the options to stay in this country. This is very urgent. Your suggestions are really valuable for me. Appreciate your time.

I have H1B stamped from company A which is valid untill Oct 2008. I am planning to go to India in Jan on my new transferred H1B from company B.
Do I have to take an appointment in India for getting my new H1 stamped? Or can i just show my new approved H1B from company B on my port of entry in US, when I come back?
New Approved H1B is enough.You don't need visa stamp again.
