For example, if EB2 India and China has different PDs, spillover is not occuring.
Additionally, it looks like demand in Eb1 is high enough that spill over may not be big, and so even with spill over, EB2 PD will not cross 2005. (they are saying indirectly that dont hold the hopes for big jump in the last quarter this year....)

According to the State Department, from October 1, 2006 through May 30, 2007, the USCIS requested and was authorized the total EB visa numbers of 66,426. Between June 1 and the first few days of July (?), the USCIS requested and was authorized over 60,000 EB visa numbers, in approximately one month. As EB1 is Cureent, presume processing applications up date, EB3 is Unavailable, means no work to do for USCIS people as far as EB3 Adjudicate cases, leave EB4, EB5 categories aside which dont have many applications to process. Then the only category left for working with is EB2 and that also having ROW being current, the adjuticate applications left for processing with available visa numbers are EB2 India for time being. So this means for the next few months including this June 2008 there might be many approvals in

H1b and AOS are two differnt things and are not coupled. A yearly h1b extension beyond 6 years is given if you have a Labor pending for more than an year or pending 140 more than one year and a 3 year h1b extension is granted if you have an approved 140.
So the basis of getting a h1b extension or transfer is 140 and not AOS. One may not have even applied for AOS but can get h1 extensions as long as the above conditions are satisfied.
This is based on what I know. Thats why Attorneys prefer h1b compared to EAd because h1b essentially gives time for you to change jobs/apply for new GC petition in case existing petition has tons of issues etc...

Guys,
My AP received date if Oct 31, 2007 and I called NSC 10 days back and requested expedited processing due to my dad's illness (Lung cancer). The lady IO was nice and she initiated the process and while on the phone she was typing the required info on their system. Finally she gave me a WTC number and told me to go to local DO if I didn't get the AP within 10 days!
I was so happy!! Following the phone I saw soft LUD on my AP case for 3 days and then stopped. Nothing happened!! I've made an Infopass appointment for local Boston office USCIS and will see what happens!!!!
Anybody got a WTC number?

ind_game, just a heads up : when the 485 is reopened they take the op'ty to review the app for all supporting docs. meaning if you have not submitted any supporting docs like birth cert etc they would issue an RFE. They did to me, back in Jul-07 i had submitted only parents affidavit but no BC or NABC. And they gave me only 30 days (i think it used be 90 days for RFE), I had hard time collecting the required info/doc in such a short time.
I agree with you. One of my friends got RFE regarding Birth Ceritificates and medical certificates. I would not be surprised if they ask me the same.

My wife's DL renewal is pending for more than 2 months...When we contacted DMV they said its pending clearance from DHS (homeland security) and it could take take 120+ days to get their approval.

efforts are on for a recapture. but the valid question raised is: how does a recapture help when USCIS can't even process 140,000 a year?
IV was founded right after the failure of a bill in the house in Dec 2005 that was intended to re-capture unused visa numbers (which passed in the Senate BTW, thanks to Sen Specter).
So, I guess my point is that it is not easy even to get the congress to recapture visa numbers....
