To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!

The Department of State has available a recorded message with visa availability information which can be heard at: 202-663-1541. This recording will be updated in the middle of each month with information on cut-off dates for the following month.
if you call this number ...but it just means they haven't updated it.

The most important part of rally is the lawmaker meeting because they decide to bring up the bills and then vote on them.
There are 635 lawmakers: 100 senators + 535 house members. It would be great if we could set up at least 1 meeting with every lawmaker and more meetings with immigration sub committee members.
example 1 (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=170156&postcount=4457) and example 2 (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=170176&postcount=4458)

If your interpretation is correct, US STEM degree holders with 3-year experience hit the Jackpot. Good for them and good for remaining people in EB2 queue. Unfortunately EB3 can not use any surplus/leftover created in EB2 with the new bill. That is a minus point. EB-5 benefits a lot though.

They hushed up and approved my EAD in 20 days. Why ???? 'cos So they don't hit Jun'30 and give 2 years. They wanted to milk another 680 from me so they hushed up and sent me the 1 year EAD in 20 days.
What is the effective date of new EAD?. Does it start from the expiration date of old/current EAD or from the date of approval of new EAD ?

WASHINGTON Carlsbad Rep. Brian Bilbray and other anti-amnesty House Republicans delivered a sharp warning Tuesday that compromise immigration legislation pending in the Senate faces raucous and determined opposition if it reaches the House.
The way you stop illegal immigration is not to start by announcing that you're going to reward illegal immigration, said Bilbray, chairman of the 107-member Immigration Reform Caucus.
The group, made up of 100 Republicans and seven Democrats, opposes the Senate and Bush administration proposal to legalize the nation's 12 million illegal immigrants as part of a broad package of immigration reforms.
The Senate recently debated and shelved the proposal but is moving toward a second round of debate. If the Senate passes it, attention then will shift to the House.
Last year, with Republicans controlling both sides of Capitol Hill, the House passed an enforcement-only bill while the Senate approved a sweeping legalization. With the two chambers moving in opposite directions, both bills died.
This year, Democrats control both the House and Senate. For that reason, it is unclear whether Bilbray and his largely Republican caucus would be able to defeat the legalization legislation again this year.
However, that didn't stop them from talking tough Tuesday in rejecting the latest gambit by proponents in the Senate to win over balky Republicans a promise to spend $4.4 billion on border enforcement.
Only in Washington would people believe that throwing money at the problem is going to solve it, said Bilbray. This is a blatant attempt by senators to extort votes so they can fast track an amnesty plan.
It's time to be resolute; it's time to show some backbone, and it's time to stop amnesty, said Peter King, R-N.Y., who added that he would soon introduce enforcement-only legislation that would require a crackdown both at the border and at the workplace.
Bilbray claimed that public outrage against the Senate bill has stunned many Democrats, making them wary of supporting the Senate approach.
The Senate could take up the immigration bill late this week, beginning votes on a series of amendments expected to be presented by Republicans and Democrats. A final vote on the measure could come as soon as next week.
Senate passage would send the bill to the House, where it would go through a subcommittee that includes several outspoken critics of legalization.
Tamar Jacoby of the conservative Manhattan Institute, a proponent of legalization, said the fight in the House, if it occurs, is going to be bitter. It's going to be hand-to-hand combat.

I dont agree with you..Larrabee is a top firm who handled our case very well..its ur company to blame if they have not filed perm for you.
Sorry, I don't agree with you and also my mistake that I am linking my perm labor filing with Larrabee. I agree my perm labor is delayed because of my company.
But I have seen Larrabee handling my h1B transfer case where they screw up by missing some document. Atleast by my experience I wound not suggest my company and Larrabee as well for any immigration stuff

Looks like I will need to wait one more year :(
Congrats to folks with PD before Oct 2005. Hopefully you should be getting your GCs soon.

I wouldn't make that decision until Oct of 2008.
My personal opinion and analysis tell me that EB2 will soon get retrogressed from what it is today and the picture will not be that rosy in a couple of months.
I would wait until Oct 2008 and see what kind of visa numbers are available at that time for EB2 and EB3 and them make any decision on switching.
Again..just my opinion.

Folks - I would just say - we must not look into things through a "convex mirror". racism and discrimination are big words and knowingly or unknowingly people do treat each other differently at different times and in different circumstances.
Most folks here are Indian and being indian we always feel that a Eurpoean looks down upon us.
When you have a wonderful "Air India" - why bother to even talk about other arilines? When you live in USA where everyone is treated the same - why bother about an 8 hour flight where air hostess was not pleasing or something else.
On Another note I have seen people claiming "Air India" as lousy toilets, useless old flight attendents, - I have seen people treating these flight attendents with attitude - finding fault with them etc.. A westerner will not do this.
I travelled in Air India this January and I can ONLY say - I loved it. I travelled in Delta, Lufthansa, Kuwait, Emirates, KLM etc.. and Air India was the best - just because I felt very nice about it. I liked Delta too.
Now, coming back to attitude - Air Hostess - some of them do have a lot of attitude - this is common among all airliners. I remember one air hostess who was anoyed with my kid as she was crying loud and I heard her saying to another passenger "I am getting a headache" - but then there were some air hostesses who actually played with my kid - gave her lot of stuff to eat and play, one of them even took pictures with my kid.
Now - lets discuss the issue - the airline put all Indians in a lounge because of visa rules - lets not blame the airline here. Indian govt MUST take it with France fovt and work out something that helps Injdian nationals transitting through France. To do such a thing, Indian govt must have a pressing reason and for that - regular travellers to Fraqnce must express concern and let govt know how beneficial it is to both Indian and France.
On another note - I see so many people love to talk about airlines and how people are treated, i would recommend that we open a thread for each airline and post some genuine issues with airlines like Transi visa issues, attitude probllems, rude behaviour, missing baggage, bad flights etc.... we can even write good things if we come across.
It is natural to bad mouth people or things, we cannot expect everything or everyone to be like what we expect - we can atleast expect that it is just the way things are.
